Running for Mulberry House by Karl Jobling

“At the start of the year I decided that I wanted to raise some money for the Mulberry House project. I wanted to do something that I had never attempted before and  would really push my body to its limits. I registered for Rough Runner which is a 15km run with obstacles based on game shows. I didn’t think that was going to be hard enough so thought I would enter the Surrey Half Marathon as well. During training I injured my knee but was determined to compete. Thankfully I was able to complete the half marathon in 2 hours 8 minutes which I was so proud of. A few weeks later I undertook the rough runner challenge which was amazing fun but harder than I had originally thought and took nearly 3 hours to complete. I was dreading the travellator but conquered it first time. Childhood dream come true.

I had set myself the target of £200 but I am pleased to say I have surpassed this and its looking to be double my original target and was shocked by the generosity of people who sponsored me. I will certainly do more fundraising in the future but need to find something more challenging now”
