On Thursday 30 July 2015 16 five-a-side football teams, all representing different services who work with homeless and disadvantaged people, will descend on Imperial College London's Heston Sports Ground for London's first Street2Feet tournament.

Street2Feet is run by national housing charity Chapter 1 supported by StreetGames, and its annual tournaments in Manchester have become a fixture in the homeless sporting calendar.

Chapter 1's national sport development manager, Dean Ashton, said: 'It all began six years ago when we started a kick-about football team at Chapter 1's Manchester hostel, The Limes.  It went from strength to strength, and we formed a close link with StreetGames.

'We went on to extend the programme to include other organisations in Manchester who work with homelessness, mental health and young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs). We have established a regular league affiliated to Manchester FA, known as E-Quality FC,  and rolled out a sports development programme across the whole of Chapter 1.

'This is the first time we've brought the tournament to London where we are working in partnership with Ashford Place, the organisation behind Cricklewood Wanderers, and are grateful to the Sport Imperial team for providing their facilities. We hope it too will become a regular event.

'The benefits for the people who take part go far beyond sport. Their confidence and self-esteem improves. They learn about responsibility and team work, and that it 's possible to gain real qualifications and have fun at the same time.'

Murad Ahmed of Ashford Place, said: 'Ashford Place has been supporting vulnerable young people for over ten years. Using football and in particular Cricklewood Wanderers Football Club as a vehicle for positive change, social integration and realising their ambitions, we are delighted to be part of Street2Feet 2015.

'With our partners we want to develop a football programme in London that offers vulnerable young people an opportunity to clarify their future direction, recognise their own capacity, turn this into a productive and useful careers and generally help young people regain a positive image.'

Chapter 1, and the Street2Feet team would like to thank all the many 2015 supporters and sponsors, including StreetGames and Pret à Manger.

Street2feet takes place at Imperial Heston, Crane Lodge Road, Cranford,  MiddlesexTW5 9PQ on Thursday 30 July – see the action from 1pm to 4pm.
