Chapter 1 recognises its ‘Great 1s’ at award ceremony in London

20 JAN 2014

National housing charity Chapter 1 held its annual awards ceremony on 21 November at its headquarters in London.

The aim of the awards, known as the Great 1’s, is to recognise individual and team achievements of the people who make up the Chapter 1 community – staff, volunteers, and clients.

More than 20 nominations were received from Chapter 1 projects across the country. The judging panel of Chapter 1 board members, staff and clients, had a hard job selecting the  five winners.

Chapter 1 chairman, Rob Taylor, said: ‘Everyone deserved recognition. Their stories were inspirational and the task of selecting the winners was both rewarding and humbling for us. The Great 1s scheme proves that, right across such a diverse and ever-changing organisation, Chapter 1 is doing what set out do – changing lives one by one. ’

The five winners each received a special trophy. Four others were highly commended and presented with certificates. They came from as far apart as Manchester, Southampton and Cornwall. Afterwards they all enjoyed an overnight stay in London and a visit to the London Dungeons.
