2nd Chance has been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark, which identifies the project as trading for social and environmental purposes.

We are unfortunately unable to accept everything that is offered – either because of trading standard regulations, quality or the fact that we may be carrying too much stock of some items due to low demand.

Those on benefits or low income qualify for discounts of 25%  on the marked prices subject to providing evidence of eligibility.

Second Chance

We welcome volunteers as the project has a large number of hands-on roles including sales, driver's mate, administration, telephone and restoration. We currently work with a number of people looking to regain confidence in order to find paid employment. If you are interested in volunteering, you can download an application form.

In addition to the objectives of providing affordable furniture to those in need and providing work experience opportunities the project also has an environmental aim of reducing the amount of waste going to landfill sites, currently around 150 tonnes yearly.

We operate in the boroughs of North Warwickshire and Nuneaton & Bedworth – but similar schemes run by other agencies exist all around the UK. To find out about these go to the Furniture Re-Use Network website .

Project History

The project was opened in 2006 and was made possible through funding from the Big Lottery and through the financial support of Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council.

In 2012 a successful application to the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund resulted in a further grant being awarded to 2nd Chance Furniture. This grant has enabled the launch of its 2ndStep Forward (2SF) Volunteer programme.

In April 2013 a new site was opened (Second Chance Furniture – North Warwickshire) in Atherstone.  The new showroom at Innage Park, Atherstone has been made possible by working in partnership with North Warwickshire Borough Council.
